TOKYO, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated Friday morning, following a weak lead from Wall Street overnight, as some investors opted to secure profits after recent gains made on optimism over the revival of economies where virus-lined restrictions have been lifted.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 62.31 points, or 0.28 percent, from Thursday to 21,854.00.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 6.16 points, or 0.39 percent, at 1,571.18.

Iron and steel, marine transportation and transportation equipment-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
