TOKYO, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Meguro River near Nakameguro with cherry blossom trees lining the neighborhood is one of Tokyo's most popular spots to enjoy Hanami (cherry blossom viewing).

Sakura trees on either side create a canopy of pink over the water. After dark, more visitors gather to admire the cherry blossoms lit by lanterns.

Japanese authorities have announced that the full bloom of cherry blossoms in Tokyo this year came nine days earlier than average.
