Japan's Nikkei plunges over 3 pct in early trading

TOKYO, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index tumbled over 3 percent in early trading Monday, as investors took profits in major technology shares, following Wall Street's decline late last week.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 2,440.42 points, or 3.66 percent, from Friday to 64,147.70. The broader Topix index was down 83.78 points, or 2.12 percent, at 3,865.31.
